Since my last fillup I got 19.2mpg. Thats out of a 22 year old pickup with a large displacement, incredibly inefficient V6
Ive been hypermiling in an effort to save money so I can afford wheels and tires sooner. My 10 month old tires are currently at about 4/32 of tread with 10k miles on em. Im also gonna try to get Discount Tire to give me a credit toward some 225/70/r15s because these shitty 215/70/r14s are warrantied to 85k miles and are wearing so poorly.

The Cherokee used to get 24-25 on premium with the stock tires. Some weeks that’s better than my E46.

I get better mileage in my Crown Vic average for the year is 19.53. Its a 2005 with mostly city driving.

Not bad for an older truck. Congrats. I like the name of your truck!

I could probably get that range if I used premium, but regular is 2.33/gal soooooo

You should try it for a tank and see if your increase in range offsets the extra you pay.

I have, I gain 2-3mpg, It defeats the purpose of being cheap though

Wut

If you get 3mpg more, the difference is $0.004 per mile to pay for premium. So for $0.004 a mile, your engine is purposefully retarding ignition timing and making itself less efficient while also possibly making less power. Boo and hiss :P

If premium was less than 8 cents more per gallon as opposed to regular, then Id put in 87. I just cant afford to right now. After I get a new set of shoes, then I'll start putting 87 in again

This was with mostly city driving as well. Whats your rear end ratio? I have 3.55s, that would explain our similar gas mileage
![]() 09/22/2015 at 16:31 |

Oh. I took the price of premium at $2.849 for my calculation. also, 87 is some rot-gut gas. Did you mean 93?
![]() 09/22/2015 at 16:34 |

In colorado regular is 85 because of the altitude. Premium is 87 and super premium is 91

You can’t have a truck named Veronica. Trucks have names like Bessie, Ethel, Bertha, etc.

That’s interesting. I never knew that.

Congrats! I was excited about 12 mpg last night...

I shit you not, a 2.73 open diff
![]() 09/22/2015 at 19:27 |
|
For 2.73 gearing you have terrible MPGs. You should be getting at least 24. Also my diff is a Limited Slip.

It's gets about 26 on the highway

Since I started keeping track about five years ago, I’ve been averaging 20 combined in my ‘02 Ranger. Pretty good considering the EPA highway rating is 18.

When was your last tune up? When was the last time you replaced stuff like spark plugs, shocks, air filters, fuel filters, etc...
